THE RENOVATION

February 2021. Goldsmith UCL.

It’s done now, I’m not blaming you, I was there too.  I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have brought that up. It’s ok, it’s all ok, let's have a shower, make it better…

Squinty eyeballs, exhale, vapour responds to our command and scurries out of the way in golden ratios.

Rainbow steam hides whilst our fingers seek.

Water droplets forming frosted glass, it's all softer I need to be more gentle.

Brown soap studied feelings coil down the drain.

Shake...

Shake...

Shake...

Fresh...

Ready ... Readier

The Renovation is an immersive installation that fuses narrative, audio, structural form, light, and movement to convey the message that the body is one's home. The performance features the embodiment of the artist's soul, which interacts with the black structure, symbolizing the mind, in an attempt to dismantle the recurrent thoughts of depression, low self-esteem, and broken relationships and pave the way for healing and optimism to shine through.  This looped, narrative-driven installation piece offers an engaging and thought-provoking experience that invites audiences to reflect on the significance of their internal voice and how it hinders or helps them express who they are. Through the artist's creative use of multimedia, The Renovation provides a unique perspective on the relationship between the mind and body and how the two can work together to foster self-love and healing.
